What documentation guidelines were used to develop MedicalTemplates?

Will MedicalTemplates prevent an audit?

No.  Audits are often triggered by coding distributions which fall outside of the norm.  Defense of an audit depends on appropriate documentation to support the level of coding submitted.  The HCFA E&M guidelines define appropriate documentation for each level of coding.  The appropriate coding level submitted is entirely the responsibility of the healthcare provider, and will depend on the information actually documented.

The 1997 HCFA E&M  guidelines can be downloaded from here>

Will MedicalTemplates prevent downcoding?

No.  MedicalTemplates provide prompters appropriate for all levels of E&M coding as defined the in the 1997 HCFA guidelines.  The appropriate coding level submitted is entirely the responsibility of the healthcare provider, and will depend on the information actually documented.  The primary defense against downcoding is appropriate clinical documentation for the level of service provided.

How much do MedicalTemplates cost?

Each standard MedicalTemplate costs $150 per healthcare provider.  Volume discounts are available.

Are volume discounts for MedicalTemplates available?

Can I change any of the format of the template?

No.  Each template provides text fields and checkboxes which are editable.  The format, however, cannot be modified. For an additional fee, any medical template can be customized to suit individual needs or requirements.  The cost for a customized template is evaluated individually, and reflects varying levels of complexity.

I purchased a template, but my computer will not allow me to open the file.
